Job Description

Our client is seeking a Director level candidate to operate as the Assistant Controller. They will be working directly with the Controller and CFO and managing the company’s core accounting teams and functions. They will also be responsible for accurate and timely financial statements, external audits, annual budgets & forecasts and high-level strategic discussions and decision making.

Role:

  • Oversee all areas of the Accounting Department, monitor key accounts, and assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Drive the external audit process and progress
  • Work with cross functional teams, including finance to review and bubble up significant budget to actual variances to management
  • Ensure accounting policies, procedures and controls over accounting are appropriately documented and maintain organization procedures in line with relevant federal & state regulations and accounting standards
  • Manage banking relationships and partnerships
  • Work with leadership, cross functional teams and all necessary lines of business as needed; able to succinctly interact with the senior management and provide appropriate insight and guidance as needed
  • Demonstrate mindful and strategic decision making as it relates to finance & accounting, operate as a subject matter expert
  • Perform other ad-hoc tasks, duties and projects

Skills:

  • 7+ years or more of related experience required
  • Excellent communication (both written and oral) in a variety of settings, situations and audiences
  • High-level of comfort over financial reporting tools
  • Experienced in working with outside vendors, including External Auditors
  • Robust team and people management experience and desire to manage teams Experience managing and supervising employees
  • Able to manage time and competing priorities effectively
  • Bachelor’s of Accounting, or related field, preferred degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • CPA & Large CPA firm experience strongly preferred
