Job Summary:

As the leader of the accounting team, controllers oversee closely monitoring a company’s financial health. They typically maintain, manage, and analyze financial statements, payroll, budgets, tax compliance issues, and more. Controllers must have solid communication, technology, analytical and management skills. Candidates should possess knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which includes monthly close process, maintenance of close calendars, checklists and reviewing of journal entries
  • Manage, coach and mentor a team that is responsible for cash, AP, AR, prepaids, fixed assets, accruals, and expense classification
  • Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity


  • Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk
  • Owns the monthly consolidation, intercompany reconciliations and maintains a relationship with contacts in international locations
  • Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with GAAP or international financial reporting standards
  • Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance
  • Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management
  • Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points
  • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
  • Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned


  • Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis
  • Exemplary history of financial project management
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • Master’s degree in Accounting is preferred
  • Ten years or more of related experience required as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation is preferred
  • Experience with Netsuite is preferred
  • Experience in healthcare is preferred
  • Experience with offshore staffing is preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times
  • Able to travel as needed
