Job Description

Gava Talent Solutions has a Director (which equates Managing Director level at this company) position available in San Francisco managing our client’s Accounting Advisory division. You will help to create, develop, and grow the West Coast business. In this role, you will lead your team in helping our clients anticipate, understand, and respond to the ever-changing world of risk management. You will also be accountable for business development, client relationship management, account management, project oversight, recruiting, and other office operations.


  • Deliver both consulting services, client service and drive business development
  • Manage teams, exercise leadership to projects and manage evolving client needs for operational and technical accounting such as:
  • Able to prepare financial statements as they relate to acquisitions, carve-outs, proposed sale transactions, restatements, etc.
  • Lead IPO readiness and program management
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of new accounting policies and procedures
  • Evaluate and design reporting processes to adhere to and support SEC reporting (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K etc.) and management reporting requirements
  • Improve the month end close process, including: including improving monthly and quarterly reporting
  • Oversee and manage financial reporting and operational system implementations
  • Drive both large and small scale finance and business transformation initiatives
  • Work with clients and core teams to manage and deliver a multitude of technical accounting issues
  • Supervise and project manage client accounts, engagements, timelines, staffing, deadlines, and budgets through all phases of the engagement – strategy, goal-setting, deliverables, and maintaining an integrated project plan

Practice Development:

  • Lead the West Coast Accounting Advisory practice, set growth strategies in line with corporate values and strategic objectives and other operational areas:
  • Account management: oversee client engagements, maintain strong relationships leadership, understand clients’ business, and ensure quality deliverables and client satisfaction on engagements
  • Coaching: provide coaching and training opportunities for team members
  • Recruiting & Retention: actively attract, interview, hire and retain top talent
  • Leadership: share technical knowledge with both clients and teams, including case studies, white papers, learning materials, and other resources
  • Lead our Accounting Advisory practice by guiding and directing strategic firm initiatives around technical accounting policies and standards
  • Lead marketing and business development efforts in support of creating and building the firm’s Accounting Advisory presence

Business Development:

  • Actively purse business development opportunities and market a full range of services to prospective clients including using existing relationships to generate new opportunities
  • Support the business development team with client delivery or sector specific expertise
  • Foster culture of growth and a business development mindset and act as a thought leader in the market


  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 30%-40%


  • 12+ years of relevant accounting experience advising publicly traded companies on various technical accounting policies and standards (e.g. ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 326)
  • Experience in professional services environment (preferable Big-4)
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting standards (U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS)
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred (CPA)
  • Track record of establishing credibility both internally and externally
  • Lead to create an environment of collaboration and excellence

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or other related field
